Figura Furniture

November 11th, 2010

My apologies for not posting lately. I’ve been quite busy with freelance work and family duties. ArtMail sent me this beautiful chair by Terry Boyle. Their write-up is below:

Terry Boyle creates unique pieces, utilizing a spectrum of mixed media, unified in a design moving the viewer to interact with it. Like having a seat in a chair, or running fingertips across a table. Each piece has its own character and personality-some more than others. A piece of furniture should speak for itself, through the form, material contrasts, and presence. In naming the pieces, they’re given poise, or brawn, or attitude. Now they’re more than just art, or even functional art. They have an identity.

I’m already thinking about Christmas card photos. I love Susanne Jenemann’s photography work. This Madison based photographer specializes in kids and families. See her work at 3beansphotography.com or at her blog here.

Oktoberfest

September 21st, 2010

LaCrosse will ring in their annual Oktoberfest (a.k.a. DrunkFest) this Friday with the “Tapping of the Golden Keg”. If I were hosting a party, I’d send out these invitations from girl*in*gear.

Colorful Business Cards

August 16th, 2010

I spent a little time last night checking into some of my favorite blogs. It seems that I’m not on the computer as much during the summer, and get behind on good posts. I saw that Studio on Fire just printed some new colorful business cards for Madison’s Cricket Design Works and they look pretty nice. More here…

Baby Mail

August 3rd, 2010

My friend just had a baby girl. With social media, printed baby announcements don’t seem to get sent as much, but I still love them. I also think I may be the only one keeping the post office in business! Here are a few announcements I like from Wink and Daisies. Great photography that she uses in her design samples too.

Wood Paper

July 21st, 2010

Made chemical free in Spooner, WI, this wood paper can be embossed, converted into packaging, die cut, laser cut, silk screened, and even printed through your desktop printer. Only water is used to make the paper and there is no wood waste from their process. Also, when a tree is harvested, it is divided up and distributed to several different wood manufacturing businesses such as plank lumber, furniture, cabinetry and of course paper, which leaves about 10% of the tree for veneer manufacturing. Even though the company only uses 10% of the tree, they plant a tree for each log they use to create the wood paper. Broadway Paper carries four different kinds of wood paper. They have a thin and thick cherry and birch in sheets of 8.5 x 11 and 24 x 30 in stock, though any size sheets are able to be ordered.

Hudson Photos

July 16th, 2010

I was sad I missed Art Fair on the Square last weekend. We were out of town, but I heard the heat didn’t keep art lovers away. Aren’t these prints of Wisconsin great? Not sure if they were at the fair, but these photographers are located in the Hudson, WI area and worth checking out: Austin Fassino and Amber Engfer.
