Deadwood & Danger

January 28th, 2010

I ordered this Clint Eastwood is Danger print for my guy for his Valentine’s Day present. It will be perfect in his stark white office. I also love this ‘Stache Clash Deadwood from Ole Rattlesnake, but hate to encourage his facial hair growth. Lindsey, or Ole Rattlesnake as she’s called, is a UW-Madison student working on her M.F.A. in printmaking. You may have seen her web-famous “Mustachio Nut” poster, but although it’s now sold out, I’m sure this bright gal has more up her sleeve… keep those prints coming!

In addition to our Wisconsin Daisy, the Milwaukee Art Museum received two non-profit merit awards from this month’s HOW Design Magazine for their Act/React Catalog and Unmasked & Anonymous Catalog. Both can be purchased at the MAM store.

Have you picked up this month’s edition of HOW? It’s their 25th anniversary issue of Typography and they happen to feature a gal from Chetek who hand draws some lovely type. Katie’s “lemon flavored” style is inspired by her love for vintage typography from the 50’s and old country music. Check out more at katiedaisy.com.

Project Runway is on tonight and there’s a designer, Anna Lynett, from our very own Whitefish Bay. Since it’s no longer on Bravo, I missed last week’s episode, but will be sure to tune in tonight at 9. Here’s her design on model Cerri from last week’s “create a look that embodies you as a designer” challenge. Let’s hope Anna wins.

A Fresh Apple

Welcome 2010. Time to start fresh and eat some more fruit. Like apples, perhaps. I wrote about Vik’s ‘09 Apple a Day calendar last spring and Dave has now designed his new ‘10 version. Printed by the fine folks at Chicago’s Rohner Letterpress, this large 18″ x 23″ poster is a creative way to keep track of your healthy snacks and decorate your wall while doing so. Order one for just $24 here.
